Color Fusers Blog Hop April 2019
WOW – April 1st is here! Spring has sprung and it’s time for another Color Fusers Blog Hop! This month, the colors are a bit of a challenge for me as I would not normally reach for them to create with. However, I am always up for a new color challenge that makes me think outside the box. Here’s my project for the Color Fusers Blog Hop April 2019. Be sure to scroll to the bottom to see the other demonstrators creativity with this month’s colors of Mango Melody, Pineapple Punch, Melon Mambo and Very Vanilla.
A Beautiful Day!
Well, I went back and forth with what to design and here is what I came up with. The colors at first reminded me of a sunset but I couldn’t quite get the look I wanted and then I decided a butterfly would be perfect. Think of myy Beautiful Day stamp set, I reached for it and the creativity started to flow. I knew sponging the image would be ideal to mix the colors in the large stamp of the butterfly, however, I was worried about the ink smearing, so best solution – EMBOSS! I grabbed my gold embossing powder and love the result.
Of course one card led to another card. I haven’t embossed in so long that first I tried just the butterfly and fussy cut it. Once I created two of them, I was testing out embossing folder choices, I decided what would it look like if I embossed numerous butterflies on my card stock. Well, as you can see two different looks but equally as pretty! Yes, embossing can be a bit tricky, however, if you go slow, the powder will not go every where! Using the Stampin’ Up! Embossing Buddy (I forgot to put it my picture!) definitely helps keep the powder on the stamped image and not all over your card stock. The power inside the embossing buddy eliminates static!
To get the look I used the Stampin’ Up! Sponges starting with the Pineapple Punch color first. I then followed with Mango Melody and Melon Mambo. Once you hit the image with Melon Mambo it is hard to cover it with the yellow tones of the other colors. Cutting the image was not difficult since it is a rather large stamp. I used dimensionals to attach it to my card front. I love the addition of the Very Vanilla Metallic Edge ribbon to tie in with the gold embossing powder!
