When I decided to make a card today, my goal was to use up Designer Series Paper that will be leaving soon. I went with the Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper which coordinates with the Floral Phrases Stamp Set. Next thought, what will be my color combination? This week, someone asked me how I come up with my color combinations. I thought about it for a bit and realized I mainly do two things, look at the Designer Series Paper for colors included and what ribbon do I have. Often colors are eliminated because I don’t have a matching ribbon! I know it may sound silly but it is true. I love to add ribbon so if I don’t have a certain color, I may switch color choices. For the featured card, I chose Night of Navy since is it one of the two colors featured in the paper pack. I had the idea of coloring the stamp with markers which lead to my choice of Marina Mist. I almost went with Pool Party (which I am sure would look equally as nice) but Marina Mist worked perfectly on the first try! I was hoping to include a video but unfortunately, my voice is out of commission. My son pitched on Monday and I screamed a bit! I snapped a few pictures to show you how I created the flower. I took the two markers and actually colored the stamp and then stamped my paper. A simple technique that creates a whole new look to the stamp!
I tried to take a close up of the finished flower. Super easy and quick once you get started!
The Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper is retiring on 5/31 or while supplies last. I actually just went and looked at the Retiring Products and the paper says LOW INVENTORY. The Whisper White Organza Ribbon is gone. So many items have sold out quickly! Be sure to check that list. The best way is to go to the online store and look at the link.
