Holiday Card Club December 2023

25 different holiday cards were created this year…kind of hard to wrap my head around the fact I designed 25 plus other holiday items at my holiday retreat. I am so thankful for the resources available that inspire me to create and share with you. As I write this post, the last holiday card club December 2023, I am already a little sad no more red and green or other colorful combinations to celebrate the holiday. I will say I am HORRIBLE at mailing cards. YES, horrible. One of my goals this year is to share more cards through the good old fashion way, by mailing them. In the meantime, onto the projects that I shared this month.

The Projects!

Basically, the last class is all about gift card holders. I hold the class by the 2nd Thursday in December which by then, most people have mailed out their holiday cards. I chose a variety of designer series paper because it’s all retiring in a few days. Makes me sad to think about that too! Gone so fast and I barely got to use it!

Gift Card Holder #1

The card below has been a HIT on instagram! Out of all the cards in this post, this is the #1 of the group. I thank all my followers for looking AND liking my posts. Instagram is the easiest to post to. If you aren’t following, please do!  Ok, the card holder, it is a simple little folded card with a belly band. On the picture you can see the dimensions to create one for yourself. I so love how it came out, just wish I had a “tip” to make that diagonal layering piece cut easier.

  • cut card stock 4 1/4″ x 8 3/4″
  • score at 3″ and 6″
  • make the diagonal cut and I saved my scrap to create the layering piece of DSP
  • cut DSP 2 3/4″ x 4″ for the front of the card
  • belly band 1″ scrap wrapped and secured in front and sentiment goes over the overlap
  • assemble as shown (note: no ribbon!)

The Beary Christmas DSP

Gift Card Holder #2

The Joy of Christmas DSP has the traditional holiday colors. A big fan of red and green and in gingham no less, I made this card a hit for me. It was a simple card to create and the little addition of the merriest trees die completed the card.

  • cut card stock 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • cut layering DSP 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • cut card stock 3 1/4 x 8 1/2″
  • score at 4 1/4″
  • cut DSP at 3″ x 4″
  • add a scrap piece of card stock 1″ x 4″
  • add a scrap piece of DSP 1 1/2″ x 4″
  • cut white card stock 3″ x 4″ and stamp sentiment
  • assemble as shown (note: no ribbon!)

Gift Card Holder #3

Having A Walk in the Forest DSP left over from my retreat, I knew one of the cards would feature the designer paper. The bear was a hit for many season and he kind of grew on me. I love the using Balmy Blue and Pretty Peacock to bring out the pattern in the paper. A simple gift card holder that you can easily create for any occasion.

  • cut card base 4 1/4″ x 11″
  • score at 1 1/2″ and 5 1/2″
  • cut DSP 4″ x 4″ and (2) 1/2″ x 4″
  • cut white 3 3/4″ x 4″
  • stamp and punch sentiment
  • stamp snowflakes
  • add ribbon (yay it’s back)
  • assemble as shown

GIft Card Holder #4

Th Beary Christmas DSP coordinated with the paper and memories and more kit I used at my holiday retreat. I hope to post about it before my winter retreat. The retreat is my way of spoiling my people who attend. The card holder below uses the paper and inside I used the more wishes stamp set for the sentiment. My second time I used the stamp this season, thank goodness it is getting carried over.

  • cut card base 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • cut white card stock 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • trim DSP (2) 1/2″ x 4″  and (1) 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″
  • cut card stock 4″ x 9 3/4″
  • score at 1 3/4″ and 4″
  • cut inside card stock for sentiment 3″ x 3 /4″
  • stamp sentiment to coordinate with DSP
  • cut images from DSP for the front of card
  • add punches
  • add ribbon
  • assemble as shown

Tip – center the night of navy card stock onto the white card stock then adhere the strips of dsp. You should have a little of the card stock showing on each side.

Note Card Surprise!

November’s Card Club featured the WInter Meadow DSP. I had cut for note cards but went in another direction. When I saw the paper in the packet, I knew I couldn’t just leave it. QUICK I mean QUICK and simple to create these 2 note cards. I added ribbon, a die cut tree, sentiment and some embellishments. I tried stamping the happy holidays directly on the DSP and guess what, it was not straight. So a quick fix, die cut the banner, stamp and cover the error.

  • cut card stock 3 1/4 x 4 3/4″
  • cut DSP 3″ x 4 1/2″ (makes 10 card layers)
  • add ribbon
  • stamp sentiment
  • assemble as shown
  • finish with embellishments

That’s a wrap but…

So I am not the best with directions. I try to keep it simple and to the point. I may miss a step or a measurement, however, I am a visual person and most of the time what inspires me has NO directions! If you ever need help, please contact me. It’s best to email at bonniestamped@gmail.com. The contact me tab unfortunately is full of spam that I check regularly and can’t seem to get rid of. The supplies below are most of what I used. I may leave out the ink pad if I am showing the card stock. What is fabulous about DSP packets, Stampin’ Up! lists all the colors on the back! I hope you have a wonderful New Year’s Eve and can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store for us. Ready for it to be here!

Happy Stampin’

Bonnie
