Hippest Hippos
Sale-a-bration 2022 part 2 began on July 1, 2022. It will be ending on August 31st. This is the second year, Stampin’ Up! offered qualified orders to receive FREE merchandise. It’s a short amount of time to highlight all the goodies but I was able to create 3 cards with the Hippest Hippos Stamps and Dies for my classes. I am sharing all 3 here!!

Card #1
Color Fusers Blog Hop July 2022 introduced the Hippest Hippos Stamps and Dies to my collection. Using the color combination, I was able to highlight all 3 images on one card. Stampin’ Blends, of course, was the ideal color tool choice for this stamp set. I wasn’t so sure about this set but honestly it’s too cute! Grab it while you still have can.
- cut card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
- score at 4 1/4″
- layering card stock 5 1/4 x 4″ and 5″ x 3 3/4″
- cut strip of DSP 2″ x 5″
- die cut layering circles
- stamp images
- color with Stampin’ Blends
colors: petal pink, poppy parade and smoky slate
Card #2
Well I didn’t realize this until I started to look for my Hippest Hippos cards that I used the stamp set again with the Color Fusers Blog Hop color combination for August 2022! It is such an adorable stamp set and with 2 of this month’s colors, it made creating this gem easy! I chose to do a fun fold with this card that you can easily reproduce!
- cut card base 4 1/4″ x 11″
- score at 5 1/2″
- trim off 2 x 4 1/4 from on end (save it – it’s the bottom piece!) then cut 1 1/2 x 4 1/4″ from the same side (you will be left with a 2″ flap at the top
- cut DSP 1 3/4 x 4″
- cut Basic White card stock 4 x 5 1/4″ for the inside of card
- using Scallop Contour Dies I created the layers for the hippo
- stamp and color with blends
- sentiment stamped on the right
- add ribbon
- to assemble, place the bottom piece (2″ x 4 1/4″) at the bottom of the card
- add dimensionals to the bottom of the HIPPO piece
- adhere to bottom piece
colors: highland heather, mint macaron, smoky slate
Card #3
The most recent card I created was for my kids card class. I used the Celebrate Everything DSP to add some pattern to my card. The cute lttle hippo is sporting one of the many accessories from the Hippo Dies, the glasses. Using Stampin’ Blends, I colored the hippo and used my color lifter for more contrast. The Amazing Phrasing Stamp Set is also part of Sale-a-bration. I think they go well together, do you?
- cut card base 4 1/4″ x 11″
- score at 5 1/2″
- cut layering card stock 4″ x 5 1/4″
- cut DSP 2″ x 5 1/4″
- trim scrap piece of card stock 1/2″ x 5 1/4″
- create circle with Layering CIrcles Dies
- stamp sentiment on 1″ scrap and punch edge with banners pick a punch
- add stars (retired punch)
- stamp and color hippo
- assemble card as shown
colors: crushed curry, mint macaron, shaded spruce, pacific point and pool party
