Lovely as a Tree Sympathy Cards

It is never easy to write out a sympathy card, but it is a part of life.  This past week I had several friends lose a parent.  My heart reaches out to each of them.  I sat down to create a card for a friend whose father had been in the navy.  It started there.  I grabbed Night of Navy and I loved how it looked with Gray Granite. The Gray Granite Ribbon was a bonus and at last minute I decided to use the Rectangle Framelit.  I knew the Buffalo Check Stamp Set would tie it all together.  My Lovely as a Tree Sympathy Cards are shown below.

Card Details:

• Gray Granite card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
• score at 4 1/4″
• Whisper White layering piece 4″ x 5 1/4:
• Night of Navy layering piece  3 1/4″ x 4 5/8″
• Rectangle Stitched Framelit measures WHEN cut 3″ x 4 3/8″

I used the Buffalo Check Stamp to stamp on the Whisper White Layering Piece.  To tie in the Night of Navy, a simple trick I love is using a Stampin’ Blend and with a ruler creating a plaid pattern.  SIMPLE but effective!  Of course I added my favorite embellishment, ribbon tied in a knot.

Creating the background:

To create the background, I made a Layering Oval Framelit template and with a sponge, swirled Gray Granite ink.  Once I finished, I removed the mask and stamped the tree image in Night of Navy.  I hope you will create a few of these cards for your card stash.  Besides Sympathy, makes a wonderful masculine card.
