Color Fusers Blog Hop October 2018

Can you believe it is OCTOBER FIRST!  WOW!  Time is flying by this year.  The Stampin’ Up! fiscal year ended yesterday and today, October 1st begins the first quarter.  What a way to kick it off then with the monthly Color Fusers Blog Hop!  I truly enjoy being challenged creating with a certain color combination.  Once again, I am not sure I would of paired these four colors, however, I think I pulled it together rather well.  Let’s take a look at the Color Fusers Blog Hop October 2018 projects!

Winter Woods

I have to admit I overlooked the Winter Woods Bundle in the Holiday Catalog.  I truly thought I did not need it. However, that was short lived as I saw others sharing their projects and now, I own it! Yes, it is geared towards a holiday stamp rather than a fall stamp but I really wanted to use the stamp of trees in some falls capacity.  The leaves are starting to change here on Long Island and with a little ink and sponge daubers, I created my own set of colorful trees.

The Bundle!

As you can see the bundle is so cool with the 3D look of the tree.  Watch the home office video for a few GREAT tips and ideas on using the bundle.  I can not wait to create holiday cards and projects with this bundle!  OH SO CUTE!!

Shimmer White:

Have you ever used the Shimmer White card stock Stampin’ Up! sells?  I have it and often totally forget to use it. A friend of mine recently commented that the Shimmer White card stock was her favorite! Well, that meant one thing, I needed to take mine out of my cabinet and use it. I decided to sponge dauber the trees with this month’s color palette. It was not my first choice as I tried markers, followed by the baby wipe technique with reinkers. Both options did not yield the look I wanted. Then it dawned on me, the sponge daubers would make it possible to shade the trees and stamp onto the Shimmer White. Happy to say, the result I was hoping for came out on the first try!  I know it is hard to see in the picture!

Tin Tile Embossing Folder:

At first if you do not succeed, try again.  I say that often in my head as I craft.  I tried different color layering pieces, shading them and not being happy with the result. My last resort I took a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Shimmer White, embossed it and ran the sponge daubers across it and there it was, the right background for my card.  The Tin Tile Embossing Folder is a MUST HAVE item from the holiday catalog.  It looks amazing on just about anything!
