Alaska Incentive Trip Card Swap

It has been one busy week since I returned from the Stampin’ Up! Incentive Trip to Alaska.  It was a wonderful trip with so much to tell you, just need to find the time to share it all!  In the meantime, I definitely want to share the Alaska Incentive Trip Card Swap I created.  Using one of the new holiday stamp set, Stylish Christmas, I was very happy with the end result!

Stylish Christmas:

With my Holiday Card Club starting in July, I knew creating this card for club as well as for the card swap was a great idea.  I love the fold on this particular card. I also love how I used several of the stamps from the set to complete the look.  The hardest part was picking a color palette.   With the return of Mossy Meadow, I knew it would be perfect for the holly leaves.  Next I selected Merry Merlot because I had not created anything with the new color.  Not wanting to use Crumb Cake (I tend to like this color A LOT) I chose Sahara Sand as the 3rd color.  Stamping began and I added a few soft colors for the snow flakes with Balmy Blue and Powder Pink.

Card Details:

To create my card, which I often refer to this fold as the “Bonnie Fold” requires one piece of card stock!  That is one of the reason I love this fold.  There is not a lot of card stock involved and yet the finished product looks polished!

  • cut card base at 4 1/4″ x 11′
  • score at 5 1/2″
  • with the 11″ across the top, cut off 2 3/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece from on end.  This is the piece you will use on the front of your card
  • cut Whisper White 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • cut 2 pieces of Whisper White 2 1/2″ x 4″

Stamping Time!

Once all your card stock is cut you can now begin the stamping!  The holly leaves, as I mentioned were stamped in Mossy Meadow and the poinsettia was stamped in Merry Merlot.  I will mention, the new ink pads have been well inked and I found that I had to move the ink around for a better stamped image.  How did I so that?  I took a`plastic card (hotel room key, rewards card) and went back and forth across the ink pad as well as up and down.  Here’s a picture I took when I made the poinsettia in the Poppy Parade color for my Stampers Dozen Blog Hop July 2018 post.
