Stampers Dozen Blog Hop July 2018

Welcome to my first holiday card for 2018!  That’s right, for the Stampers Dozen Blog Hop July 2018 the focus is on holiday projects!  I was excited for this month’s blog hop because at the end of the month, the project will be part of my Holiday Card Club Class.  Even with the beautiful weather outside, creating holiday themed projects in July is not too bad!

Stylish Christmas

Christmas In July is a common saying, so it is quite fitting to start showing off some holiday crafts.  When the new catalog arrived, I looked at the holiday section almost immediately.  (Can not lie – the color revamp had my attention first!)  The one stamp set that jumped out at me was Stylish Christmas.  I am exciting to work with this stamp not only for today’s post but I plan on using it on all 4 cards for my Holiday Card Club Class.

Stylish Christmas Poinsettia

The original plan with the card is not the finished project.  Does that happen to you too?  As I started to stamp, I honestly had a hard time with the poinsettia stamp.  It was not showing the definition or the shading in the stamp like it is shown on the stamp case.  I have noticed the NEW INK PADS are well inked and after I smooth out the ink back and forth into the stamp pad, the stamped image comes out 100% better!  If you are having a hard time getting the stamp to look like mine, use a “credit card” or spoon to spread the ink into the ink pad.  Here is a picture I snapped showing you the before and after with the stamp image.

JOY Card

Last month one of my classes featured a framed art project with the word HOME.  Customers switched out the “O” for monthly themed circles.  Super cute once all finished, the JOY card reminds me of this project.  I simply replaced the “O” with the poinsettia flower.  After stamping both the poinsettia and holly leaves, I fussy cut them.  I left a small white border around the images because it helps “mask” if I do not cut with a straight line. I wasn’t sure if the Crumb Cake card stock should be the layer or be the card base so I made both.  There is no wrong in art and experimenting is key.  I love being pleasantly surprised when I think may be it will work and it actually does!

The Small Details:

Adding the Simply Stripes Embossing Folder to my layering piece reminded me of “shiplap!”  Yes, I watch too much HGTV!  I added the In Color Designer Series Paper along the bottom (1 1/4″ strip) with the coordinating ribbon.  The flower needed a little attention so I colored the pearls with the Call Me Clover Stampin’ Blends.  So easy to do and with the variety of colors of Stampin’ Blends, I can  make a bunch of colors to match projects!

Time to hop!

Well that is my first holiday card for the 2018 season.  It is time to check out more holiday projects from these talented demonstrators!  My supplies are listed at the bottom and of course all can be purchased in my online store.  Once again, thank you for reading today’s post and have fun looking at the others.  I hope they inspire you to start your holiday craft making soon!  We love receiving comments so share your thoughts!

Happy Stampin”
