Petal Passion Framed Art
Back in November 2017, I was honored to be a presenter at Stampin’ Up!’s Onstage in Salt Lake City. My presentation was on the Petal Passion Suite found in the Occasions 2018 Catalog. What a suite! Packed with a variety of products I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to present and then it happened. Petal Passion Framed Art was created!
Making the Squares:
It always starts with a blank piece of paper. I pull out my supplies and wait for the inspiration to start. Since last year, I have been creating Framed Art projects. Creating the 3″ x 3″ squares are super fun! I often use the same design in several of my framed art projects. WHY? Because I love when I use the same design but make the simple switch of an embellishment to create a new look. 9 squares are always featured with a sentiment in the middle. The Love Life came from one of the Petal Passion Memories and More Cards. When I was flipping through the cards, it just worked.
Color Combination:
Because of the black and white patterns in the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper, any color family would compliment the paper. Thinking Spring, I chose the Subtles Family Collection. Adding ribbon, embossing folders, punches, markers to the squares balanced out all the colors. I normally would not of picked Basic Black 12×12 for the background, however, when I tried Whisper White, it washed it all out. After everything was finished, the Subtles Family Collection really pop against the Basic Black card stock.
Details:
I love seeing my customers assemble their squares. Each add their own personal touch. I have one customer who has everyone HOOKED on adding Wink of Stella. When I originally designed it, Stampin’ Up! had not released the Stampin’ Blends. In class, several brought theirs and colored several of the squares. One word, WOW! Each customer received their own pack of the Glitter Enamel Dots to bling out their creation. I helped out with stamping the Love Life from the Brushworks Alphabet Set while everyone was busy coloring.
Placement:
After everyone is finished comes the fun of assembling the squares onto the 12″ x 12″ paper. It isn’t too hard if you use spacers. I cut four 1 1/4″ squares to place in the four corners of the Basic Black Card Stock. The picture below explains how I do the placement of the finished squares.
As you can see in the picture below how helpful the squares are. I do feel standing up also helps with placement. Place a small glue dot on each square in the center. I find this beneficial. Why? If you need to slightly adjust your squares, you won’t ruin the 12″ x 12″ with moving the square to its proper spot.
Alternative Projects:
Maybe you are not interested in Framed Art. That is 100% ok! Paper crafting is amazing, because you can flex those creative skills and create something totally different. One of my customers is constantly making cards packages for friends. This was her spin on 4 of the squares. Options are endless when you use Stampin’ Up! products!

As I mentioned, the suite is jammed packed with a variety of products to use through out the year for numerous occasions. Be sure to check out the product in the suite as well as the video provided by Stampin’ Up! At the bottom you will find my list of supplies for the project.

I loved seeing all the details on both the framed art and the cards ! I have been wanting to see the Brushwork Alph being used. Was the letters hard to line up? Are the squares on the cards still 3×3? Thanks for all the great pictures!
Hi! yes the letters were a bit tricky but nothing crazy. Had I had a small block for each letter it would of been quicker. I like my letters close and lining them up on a block caused to much space between. I do miss the wood block alphabets for this reason, just quicker to stamp. The squares on my 12×12 framed art is always 3″ and the layers go down 1/4″ I love taking pictusesbut sometimes I get so caught up helping and watching I forget to snap a picture! Thankfully I remembered. I love showing the variations my customer’s creativity.
What a fantastic post! You do such a wonderful job designing your framed art. Thank you so much for sharing the details!
Thank you for your comment. I truly enjoy creating the Framed Art Projects. Even though each one is similar in design, they all look unique. More to come, wanting to create another soon!
Love this Bonnie!
