Butterfly Basics Retiring Soon!
Another retiring stamp set to showcase before May 31st! I haven’t used the Butterfly Basics Stamp Set in awhile or the coordinating Bold Butterfly Framelits and Butterflies Thinlits. Today seemed like the perfect day since the weather once again is overcast and cold! I decided it was time to create my own butterflies. Remember, Butterfly Basics Retiring Soon!
Creating the card:
I love using simple techniques to create a little bit of a WOW factor. My focus this week for card class is to highlight retiring items. Recently, I pulled all my stamp sets set to retire aside and have looked through them until one draws me in. As I mentioned, it has been a while since I used this set so I was up for the challenge. Next, which color palette to play with. Like the stamp sets, the retiring colors are also pulled and I knew Soft Sky would look really nice paired with Island Indigo. The next thing I know, I added Chocolate Chip to the mix. I stamped the long “fern” like image in Chocolate Chip or Island Indigo followed by Versa Mark with White Embossing Powder. Yes, stamping Versa Mark on Whisper White and adding White Embossing Powder may be hard to see, but once the sponge daubers add some color, the white ferns POP!
The Butterfly!
The Butterfly is created with 2 different framelits. The detailed butterfly comes from the Butterflies Thinlits and the outlined butterfly is part of the Bold Butterfly Framelits. I made a quick video showing how I shaded the butterfly using sponge daubers. This is a simple technique that can easily be duplicated! Give it a try!
